DONLIN GOLD PARTNERS WITH THE ALASKA SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION
By Colleen Laraux
The Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) is a statewide nonprofit organization established to direct, develop and support Alaska’s high school interscholastic sports, academic and fine arts activities. Donlin Gold
has entered into a partnership to support ASAA in providing healthy activities for students in our region and throughout Alaska. ASAA is responsible for sanctioning 36 activities ranging from fall, winter and spring sports, to music, art, drama, debate, language and student government, and has a statewide membership of 226 schools. ASAA sets competitive seasons, sponsors state competitions, regulates sports officials and provides eligibility criteria for all Alaska students.
One of the events on the calendar was the ASAA Volleyball State Championship tournament, which took place at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage, November 11-13. For the first time in 14 years, the Bethel Regional High School Girls Volleyball team qualified for State and participated in the volleyball tournament. Despite no wins on the court, the girls’ team did win an award for the highest collective GPA for the 3A conference. Their collective GPA for the season was 3.85. Way to go, Lady Warriors!
It is important to us to build partnerships with organizations that share Donlin Gold’s commitment to cooperation, social responsibility and making a difference in the communities in which we live and work. At Donlin Gold, we recognize that participation in sports, music

and the arts helps build a strong work ethic and instills discipline and determination in students. We look forward to working with the staff at ASAA for years to come.
